Admissions to School

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

Admissions arrangements for Reception

All admissions information, process and deadlines for reception aged children are organised by Liverpool City Council. You can access that information either by using the hyperlink below or opening up the document at the bottom of the page.

At Knotty Ash we have 30 places per year group. The Local Authority guidance gives information if we are oversubscribed.

Deaf Children

Knotty Ash hosts a Deaf Resource Base (DRB) which is an integral part of the school.  We are therefore able to accommodate severely/profoundly deaf children in our inclusive mainstream school with specialist teachers of the deaf. The process of admission to the DRB is coordinated by Liverpool Local Authority Sensory Service.  The operational lead is:

We are happy to show families around our school but please be aware that this is no guarantee of a place being offered.

Nursery arrangements

The school are able to offer a place for your child from the day after their third birthday. Applications are made directly to the school. Parents and Carers can submit an application anytime before their child’s third birthday. The earlier the better!

There is a morning session and an afternoon session; each can accommodate up to 26 pupils

Morning session 8.30am-11.30am

Afternoon session 12.30pm-3.30pm

We also offer 30 hour (full day) provision for children who are eligible.

Any other year group

Occasionally spaces become available in other year groups.  Please contact the school on 228 4222 for up to date information on availability. The school is responsible for ‘in year’ admissions. So if you would like to join Knotty Ash at any time in the school year please contact the school and we will gladly show you around.  School holds a waiting list for classes with no current availability.
